Indy Library Programs & Events

The Human Library Organization is a global movement working to build spaces in the community for personal dialogue about issues that are often difficult, challenging, and stigmatizing. The Human Library is a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered. Readers ask questions and get answers from a human "Book.” These Books have volunteered their time to share their stories and answer questions. Some stereotype categories represented include gender/sexuality, religion, lifestyle, family, and health.

So how does it work?

  1. Show up at the event, and review the code of conduct.
  2. Check out a Book that looks interesting to you. We’ll have posters on display that give you an overview of each human book.
  3. Have a respectful conversation with your Book. New conversations start every 30 minutes.
  4. Check out another Book and repeat!
  5. Complete a short feedback sheet.

Upcoming events can be found on the IvyLife Calendar
