Basic Search

Use Basic Search to locate materials in Ivy Tech Libraries and to link to ebooks and streaming video and audio.

    Search Tips:
  • In the Search box, enter words relating to your topic.
  • Use quotation marks to search phrases: "world wide web."
  • Use ? to truncate to include extended forms of a term: child? to include child, children, childhood, etc.

Advanced Search

Use Advanced Search to locate materials in Ivy Tech Libraries and to link to ebooks and streaming video and audio.

    Search Tips:
  • Use one or more of the "Search:" boxes to enter search terms.
  • Select "all of these" or "any of these" or "as a phrase" with the drop menu to the right of the search box.
  • Use the "within" menu to search for the terms in a particular field.
  • To combine search terms, choose the operator you want: AND, OR, NOT.
  • Select a limit option such as location and format as desired.
  • Truncation is represented by a question mark (?). To use truncation, enter the root word and replace the ending with a question mark (?).
    IvyCat will find all forms of that word. For example, type vaccin? to find the words vaccine, vaccines, vaccinate, vaccinated, vaccination, etc.
  • Click the Search button to submit your search.

Use Subject Index Search to locate materials in Ivy Tech Libraries and to link to ebooks and streaming video and audio.

Author Search

Use Author Search to locate materials in Ivy Tech Libraries and to link to ebooks and streaming video and audio.

    Search Tips:
  • Enter the author's last name and as much of the first name as you know: longfellow h.
  • Enter a company or association name in the last name field: american chemical society
