How to place a hold

Do you see a book that you want to borrow, but you're afraid it will be gone before you get to the library?

Do you see something available at another campus, but you don't want to drive across the state to get it?

Place a hold!

When you place a hold on an item, library staff can set it aside for you for pickup at your nearest campus library.

If an item is currently checked out or being sent from one campus to another, it may take a few days to arrive.

Once items are available for pickup, you should receive a message sent to your Ivy Tech email.

As soon as you're notified, you will have one week to come to the library to get your items.

Please watch the following video to learn more about placing a hold: Ivy Tech Library--Place a hold

Interlibrary Loan and Search WorldCat

Can't find the book you're looking for?

Need full-text access to an article that isn't in our databases?

Try our Interlibrary Loan Service!

When you use Interlibrary Loan, we can contact libraries across Indiana to borrow items or receive copies of articles.

To search for items outside of our library, try using WorldCat.

WorldCat.org lets you search the collections of libraries in your community and around the world.

Once you've found your item(s), make sure to get as much information as you can (e.g. title, author, ISBN, DOI, etc.).

Then, you can either fill out our Interlibrary Loan form to request materials, or send a message to our Ask-A-Librarian service to ask for an item.
