Course Reserve Policies (For Students)

The Ivy Tech Valparaiso Campus Library provides course-related services to support the teaching and learning activities of the Ivy Tech community.  The Course Reserve Collection houses materials such as books, textbooks, solution sets, lab manuals, etc., that an instructor has selected for use by students enrolled in a specific course.  The purpose of the Course Reserve Collection is to provide quick access to course-related materials for intensive student use.

Resources are organized by course number on the Reserve shelf located behind the Valparaiso Campus Library Circulation Desk.

Because this material must be available for all members of a course and the college at-large, it is subject to strict rules.

  • Patrons must check-out Reserve items using an Ivy Tech Community College student ID.
  • The check-out period is for in-library use during library business hours only.
  • A hold can not be placed on Reserve materials.

STUDENTS:
If a textbook or course-related material is not available in the library Course Reserve Collection for your specific course, please ask your instructor to contact the library to make arrangements to support the course or make a request by filling out this form

Adding Course Reserve Material (Instructions For Faculty)

Faculty are welcome to place any materials on reserve in the library that may be used by students enrolled in a specific course.

For Department or Personally owned materials, please bring the items to the library after filling out this form

For Library owned materials, please indicate the title, author, and call number on the form

Once the completed form and material to be placed on reserve have been submitted to the library, it will be processed and added to the Course Reserve Collection.  Faculty may ask library staff to remove or add course reserve materials at any time.  Department or personally owned course reserve materials not retrieved by the faculty member at the end of the time frame specified on the course reserve form will be returned to the faculty member.
