Due to multiple countries of origin for Arab Americans, religious beliefs in the Arab American community are more complex than many people realize. The assumption is often that all Arab Americans are Muslim in their faith, when in reality, religion among Arab Americans is multi-faceted; not all Arab Americans are Muslim (and not all Muslims are Arabs, for that matter). As Arab America observes, census reports and other collected data place Arab American Christians in the United States at somewhere between 1 million and 2.3 million people with percentages of 35% adhering to Catholicism (Roman Rite), 18% adhering to Orthodox beliefs (Eastern Rite), and 18% adhering to Protestant beliefs.
