This contribution focuses on the ways in which sexuality is negotiated in western
societies today, ensuing from two cultural examples:
• In November 2017, within the context of the #MeToo campaign, a British mother
urged for the banning of the fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty” from elementary school
books, stating that it promotes “inappropriate” sexual behavior.
• The article headlined “Voll Porno” (All Porn), published 2007 in the weekly
German magazine, stern, can be seen in the context of the so-called “pornographization”. The piece laments that some children “no longer learn what love is”.

Sexual desire is often assumed to be natural and universally experienced by all adult
human beings. The lived experiences of asexual individuals, however, are beginning to challenge this assumption. The purpose of this research is to gain a better
understanding of asexual experience and identity. This study employed life story
interviews with ten self-identifed asexual individuals. Results show that asexuality is far more complicated than just a lack of sexual attraction. Respondents in
this study arrived at an asexual identity after a discovery process, one that involved
research on various sexualities

The unprecedented accessibility and affordability of online sexually explicit material (SEM)
has facilitated widespread use among adolescents and growing concerns over adverse
reproductive health outcomes. Although SEM-induced risky sexual behavior is among key
concerns, there is a paucity of longitudinal research addressing this issue. This study aimed
to assess the longitudinal association between frequency of SEM use and risky sexual
behavior among adolescents in two independent 5-wave panel samples of Croatian adolescents (n = 368; n = 247). The indicators of risky sexual behavior were: (1) not using a condom at most recent sexual intercourse, and (2) reporting two or more sexual partners.
Multilevel logistic regression analysis with a lagged component was used to explore the
associations of interest. Controlling for sociodemographic characteristics, pubertal timing
and sensation seeking, frequency of SEM use was not associated with the two indicators of

A number of recent studies have examined the connection between pornography use
and relationship outcomes for Americans already in marriages. The current study
takes this research in a diferent direction by examining (1) whether pornography
use may be associated with entrance into marriage during early adulthood and
(2) whether this association is moderated by gender and religion, two key factors
strongly related to both pornography use and earlier marriage. Longitudinal data
were taken from waves 1, 3, and 4 of the National Study of Youth and Religion,
a nationally-representative panel study of Americans from their teenage years into
early adulthood

This article observes to what extent prejudice towards lesbians (homophobia) and
the moral evaluation of this sexual orientation afect responses to narratives about
lesbians and towards their lesbian protagonists. Two hundred six students (79.6%
women, MAge=20.68, SD=2.36, RgAge=18–33) of diferent sexual orientations
completed a questionnaire that measured homophobia, the morality attributed to les‑
bians and familiarity with lesbians in everyday life.
