Mortuary Science (MORT) - Indianapolis

The ABFSE serves as the national academic accreditation agency for college and university programs in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science Education. Although its roots go back to the 1940's, the ABFSE became an autonomous agency in 1962. The accrediting function of ABFSE is recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

Every few years, The Conference compiles, publishes, and distributes a booklet entitled “Regulations in Funeral Service Licensing, Continuing Education, and Pre-need.” This publication contains jurisdiction-specific information for all 55 Conference member boards. It has been very useful to regulators and their legislatures as well as a valuable reference tool for funeral service educators, students, professionals and the general public.

The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency performs licensing services for 36 Indiana professions. These services include issuing licenses, renewing licenses, verifying licensure, and issuing discipline to licensed professionals.
