Lafayette Library Policies & Services

Book Collection -- The college book collection provides supplemental material which supports the programs of the college plus other titles for pleasure reading and general interest.

Borrowing Materials -- Materials may be checked out (up to 10 items at a time) with a current Ivy Tech ID with barcode.  Items circulate for 3 weeks with the possibility of 2 additional 3-week renewals, unless there is a hold placed on the item. 
Photocopies/Computer Printouts/Scanner -- The library provides a printer/scanner. The student $5 printing allowance can be used in the library. Computer printouts  and photocopies are available in color for 30 cents and b&w for 5 cents a page. Double sided printing is the default at 7 cents for b&w and 45 cents for color. You can add money to your account using a credit/debit card:  Go to:  https://papercut.ivytech.edu/ Then click on the link:  "Add funds using a credit card" in the left-hand menu.   Or, you can instead pay by cash at the Cashier's Office in the Express Enrollment Center in Ivy Hall.   Scanning to email is free. Note:  All printing is linked to Ivy Tech student, faculty, and staff accounts using a current  Ivy Tech username/password.  
Computers/Wireless Access -- The library provides computers for student, faculty, and staff use. Login with your Ivy Tech username and password .  Wireless Internet access is also available throughout the library. Wireless printing is also available. 
Inter-Library Loan -- If you can't find the material you need you can borrow from  other Ivy Tech libraries as well as libraries nationwide. Come to the circulation desk in the Campus Library for assistance or fill out our online form: Request Materials from other Libraries.
Material Request -- If you would like the  library to purchase a book or other material click on the link to fill out a request form.
Reciprocal Borrowing -- Information on the ALI (Academic Library Initiative) program which allows students, faculty and staff to borrow books from academic libraries in Indiana.
Study Areas -- 
There are many tables, carrels, and soft furniture throughout the library for quiet or group study.
Training Session Request Form (for faculty) -- Fill out our online form to schedule training sessions for classes on how to use all of our library resources 

Textbooks --Some textbooks and other materials are on reserve for in-library use only. Reserves are located behind the Reference desk in the Library. Reserves may be checked out with a current Ivy Tech ID with barcode for 2 hours at a time for in-library use only.  For a list of reserve textbooks check our Course Reserve Guide.

Food/Cell Phones -- Food is NOT permitted in the library. Cell phones are allowed on the first floor in the cafe seating area. 

Where can I return library materials? -- Library materials should be returned to the Campus Library during regular hours. When closed there is a book drop on the right side of the main entrance.

Are there fines for overdue books? What if I lose or damage a book or other material?  --  For overdue items, you will receive email notices sent to your Ivy Tech email address.  If you fail to return the book, you will be charged a replacement cost (price of the book) plus a $5 processing fee.  If you fail to pay those fees, your borrowing privileges will be suspended and you will not be able to register for classes, graduate, or get a copy of your transcripts until your account is cleared/paid.  It's best to reach out to us if you know that you will be late returning an item, so we can help you solve this.
