The MUSTANG'S ASTONISHING HISTORY is told through a combination of rare archival footage with Henry Ford II, exclusive access inside Ford facilities and the personal stories of former and current Mustang designers, as well as passionate fans and collectors. A pop-culture icon from its inception, the film also highlights the Mustang’s role in the likes of Steve McQueen’s Bullitt, Sean Connery’s Goldfinger and Wilson Pickett’s “Mustang Sally.” 

 

THE CARS THAT BUILT THE WORLD is a 4 episode series that tells the story of a group of rival engineers who created a revolution in transportation anforever changed the world in the process. These are the dramatic stories behind the biggest names in the auto industry.

 

In THE BODY SHOP, host Ron Hazelton and two mechanics dissect a 2000 Ford Taurus to trace the evolution of the automobile's major systems. This 2-hour nuts-and-bolt special breaks the car down into its major components (engine, body, chassis, etc.). Starting with the earliest vehicles in the 1800s, automotive historians and experts describe how cars have evolved and explain major advances. And, finally concept cars and computer animations provide a glimpse into the future.

 

DIESELGATE is the scandal that made world headlines when, in the USA in 2015, Volkswagen were discovered to have installed defeat devices in the pollution control software of their diesel cars. Although the cars conformed to emission standards in laboratory tests, on the road, in actual driving conditions, emissions were off the chart. VW were forced to buy back vehicles from American customers – resulting in ‘VW graveyards’ of new cars across the US. Compensation and fines amounted to over $20 billion.

 

WILD WHEELS is Harrod Blank’s comic and revealing exploration of Art Cars — customized automobiles which reflect the individualistic spirit of their drivers. Traveling across the country in his own wildly decorated VW bug, the filmmaker discovers a memorable cast of real-life characters obsessed with transforming their cars into mobile works of art.

MUSCLE CARS. Pop open the hood, check out the carbs, and hear the engines roar as we journey back to a time when gas was cheap, emission controls non-existent, and all that mattered was acceleration and speed.

 

RACE CAR BUILDING. Tune into this episode of Curiosity Quest as host Joel Greene ventures through the JR Motorsports facility in NC to experience what it’s like to sit in a race car and learn all about the extensive process and testing they must go through in order to hit the track.
