Submissions for the 2025 Edition of Drift open October 21st!

The title of the publication is inspired by the geogrpahy of the Northwest Indiana landscape. The Valparaiso Moranie forms a huge U share around southern Lake Michigan and Curves through northeast Lake, Poter, and LaPorte counties. The land was formed by a receding glacier, where the glacier stopped, till and sand were deposited creating the hills and drifts of the moranie. 

Drift is an annual online publication of poetry, prose and art that celebrates work from students, faculty, and staff at Ivy Tech Community College's Valparaiso, Michigan City, and LaPorte locations. This magazine welcomes submissions from the campus community.  

The deadline for submission is March 8, 2025 for publication in April. Posters announcing the submission categories and other information are displayed around campus and shared with faculty and staff. 

Categories for the 2025 publication are: 

• poetry
• short stories - fiction 
• personal essays - non-fiction
• artwork 
• photography
• video

Submission Guidelines: 

• Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 8, 2025. The submission form will not open after 3/8/25. 
• Written work must be submitted in a Word Document (no PDFs). 
• Art and photography must be submitted as .JPEG files
• Video must be submitted as .MP4 files
• Submissions accepted in any language. Please include an English translation of written works.
