If the item you need is not available in our Library, we may be able to borrow the item for you through interlibrary-loan.

What items can be requested through ILL?
Journal articles and books are the most frequently requested items.  CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, and microform material will be requested on a case-by-case basis since many libraries do not make these items available for loans or they may charge fees for these materials.  If you are not sure about requesting a specific item, please contact the Library at 812-330-6080.

How long will I have to wait for something to arrive?
It can be difficult to give specific times, but article requests can generally be filled in 1-3 days, and books may take one to two weeks. Items requested from other Ivy Tech campuses and libraries in Indiana typically arrive sooner than requests from out of state libraries. However, there are numerous factors to consider that are beyond the control of Ivy Tech library staff, including: how quickly a lending library responds, the geographical location of the lending library, delivery method, and rate at which the United States Post Office operates.

How do I receive my requests?
Journal articles will be sent directly to your Ivy Tech email address. Books and other materials will be held at the library desk for pick up. You will receive an email at your Ivy Tech email address when your requested item arrives.

May I request textbooks?
No.

Are there any fees for using ILL?
No.  We only conduct interlibrary loan services with other libraries that loan items free of charge.

Can I renew my ILL items?
In most cases, lending libraries do not allow renewals.  However, if you find that you need the item longer than the original due date, please contact the Library so we can attempt to request an extension.  You may keep the item in your possession until you receive a response from us.

Are there overdue fines?
Yes, $1.00 per day.  ILL is a privilege that can be suspended.  Students who do not return ILL materials on time may jeopardize our ability to borrow from the lending library again.

The Ivy Tech Bloomington Library will lend most books, videos, and articles from our collection through interlibrary loan (ILL).

We do not charge any lending fees for this service.

We follow the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States and the Explanatory Supplement from May, 2008.

You may search our collection using IvyCat. Or, search WorldCat where our holdings are identified by symbol XXWBL.  Or, search SRCS Indiana's Statewide Remote Circulation System.  Please note that we do not lend textbooks, reserve items, or reference materials.

ILL requests may be made through OCLC's WorldShare or SRCS.  If you do not have access to either of those services, you may request items directly from us using these convenient online forms:

If you prefer, you may also use the ALA-approved interlibrary-loan form which is available in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF formats.  You may email your completed forms to Ellie Moss at emoss4@ivytech.edu or fax them to 812-330-6082.
