If you are citing an entire website you may omit the page number or any other reference number. Try to use the author or editor’s name (if no author/editor use the title) in the text but if not, put it in the parenthetical citation.

Journal, Magazine or Newspaper Article from a Database

Format:

(Author last name page number).​

Format is the same as the print version but you need to add the name of the database and the date of your access.

If the newspaper is divided into lettered sections, provide the section designation before the page number when the newspaper does the same.

A work by two authors:

Name both authors in the signal phrase or in the parentheses each time you cite the work. Use the word “and” between the author’s names within the text and in the parentheses.

As Gillespie and Lerner state…(29).

(Gillespie and Lerner 29).

Author One Last Name, First Name and Author Two First Name Last Name. Title of Book. Publisher, Year of Publication.

For a source with more than three authors, provide the first author's last name followed by et al.

Organization as Author​

Format:

Any Indirect Source
(A source cited in another source).

Whenever possible, find the original source and cite that.

If the original source is not available then cite the source indirectly.

Format:

Original author last name stated “whatever you’re quoting” (qtd. in author last name of the work you read page number).

Example:

Johnson stated that “your quote...” (qtd. in Henley 102).

Include only the secondary source (the book, article etc that you read) on the works cited page.

Format:

Personal Communication

You do not need to use page numbers for the in-text citations of personal communications.
