Astronomy -Indianapolis

The Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium at Butler University has been in operation since 1954. The observatory is open to the public--see the website for more details.

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis offers planetarium shows throughout the year. Open since 1989, these shows offer a beginner's guide to the night sky.

Located just south of Mooresville, IN, the Link Observatory was previously used for scientific research by Indiana University. Currently, the observatory is now dedicated to providing outreach to schools and the public in order to inspire curiosity in astronomy.

The Hayden Planetarium is at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. It is directed by the world-renowned astrophysicist, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The Griffith Observatory is located in Hollywood, California. It was dedicated in 1935, and has even been featured in films like "Rebel Without a Cause". The observatory was built from a dream to make science more widely accessible, and it is currently directed by Dr. E.C. Krupp.
