Tutoring is free to Ivy Tech students, and students benefit in a number of ways: getting assistance in understanding course specific problems and principles, learning collegiate study skills, and having others to relate to while coping with their studies. The purpose of tutoring is to help students help themselves and to assist and guide them to the point at which they become independent learners. Additionally students who start early with tutoring and who get the support they need are likely to continue on with their academic careers.
Another valuable resource is the Ivy Tech Virtual Library. The Virtual Library has a multitude of paid subscription databases that provide credible and quality information for any subject desired. These databases are collections of magazines, journals, newspapers, and even electronic books from which articles on a given subject can be easily accessed.
