When someone not affiliated with Ivy Tech requests to use the computers, ask if this is their first time using the library as a non-student. IF YES—give them a brief verbal overview of the policies, emphasizing the 60-minute maximum time limit and which computers they may use.
For legal purposes, a current state-issued photo ID is required to obtain a JITA username and password every time. No state-issued ID, no password
If a library assistant or librarian is in, let them handle this
1. Have the person fill out the JITA Request Form and provide you with a current state ID.
2. On the JITA username and password slip, write down the time the session ends in the two TIME END areas.
3. In the ID area, copy the person's last name and the number on their state ID. Return the ID to the person.
4. Watch to see which computer the non-student selects. Record the number of the computer on the sheet near their name.
5. Do not directly monitor what the person is doing on the computer during the session. Any questions about the appropriateness of what the person is doing on the computer should be directed to a librarian. library assistant, or the library director. If a staff member is not available, make a note of the situation and give the note to a senior staff member when one is available.
1. Printer: Change the default printer to the Citizen printer:
File | Print Setup | Print to a printer | Citizen Printer
2. Access WorkFlows through the start menu in the bottom left corner of the screen.
First-time users:
The first time you open WorkFlows, you will need to configure the following settings:
CHARGING (CHECKING OUT)
DISCHARGING (CHECKING BOOKS IN)
FOR STUDENTS
FOR JITA USERS
These procedures should be executed by a Library Assistant or Librarian.
Reserves with a Barcode
- Use this barcode on blue cards inside the book to check it out.
- These items can be charged and discharged like other library items.
- The checkout period is usually two hours with the option to renew if no one else has asked for it.
- Remind the student that Reserve items cannot leave the Library.
- Keep the blue card, the receipt slip, and the patron’s photo ID together in the reserve cabinet during checkout period.
Reserves without a Barcode
- If the reserve does not have a barcode, attach the ID to the card and put it in the cabinet until the item is returned.
