The Automotive Technology program at Ivy Tech College's School of Technology offers exciting careers and unlimited opportunities. Through the use of modern equipment and A.S.E. master certified instructors, students learn how to diagnose and repair the modern automobile. This is a “hands-on” training program that allows plenty of lab time to develop the skills needed to be a successful automotive technician.
The Automotive Institute is designed to prepare students to start their careers in new car dealerships and independent repair facilities working on newer high technology equipped vehicles in a professional work environment. This program will prepare students for entry- level employment with companies that require training in electrical systems, engine performance, transmissions, brakes, steering and suspension systems, air conditioning systems, or engine repair. Students have the opportunity to receive industry certifications from industry partners within the courses themselves, which may assist with employment opportunities. Students are also prepared to take industry standard certification exams from ASE. Students receive hands-on experience on up-to-date repair and diagnostic equipment that is currently used in the automotive field.
This program can be completed in less than a year. Students earn recognized certifications as well as a Technical Certificate from Ivy Tech.
