The Educational Technology (EdTech) team for the South Bend and Elkhart campuses works alongside the systemwide EdTech & Instructional Design Team to ensure students, faculty, and staff are empowered to utilize and leverage our Learning Management System (LMS) known as IvyLearn as well as all integrated tools, including publisher platforms and third-party technologies. In addition to 1-1 online and in-person support, our team can deliver professional development and training for faculty, staff, and students.
Connect with Us:
- Online Help Desk Ticket - If you have issues accessing different functions of IvyLearn and integrated resources (ex. McGraw Hill), we recommend filling out our online form. Our team will do our best to respond as soon as possible (within 24 hrs). Often, issues can be resolved through messaging.
- Email - If you are looking for more in depth support in learning how to use the system, we recommend emailing us at southbendelkhart-edtech@ivytech.edu to schedule a time to meet with our team. We can connect in-person or online.
- Visit the "Learning Commons" - These spaces offer Ed Tech and Library Services as well as Tutoring. EdTech is housed in South Bend (Rm 122), but we support students, faculty, and staff at the Elkhart campus (Rm 133) as well. If you have a quick question, feel free to stop in for walk-in support (typically 5-10 minutes). If you need more in-depth help, we recommend scheduling an appointment.
Students:
We want to ensure that you are comfortable and confident in accessing and utilizing the IvyLearn system to engage with your courses, classmates, and professors. Whether you have a quick question or need in-depth support, we are here to help!
Faculty and Staff:
In addition to general support, we offer resources and training through our statewide EdTech team as well as additional locally curated content:
- EdTech & Instructional Design Communication Site - Internal resource for faculty and staff to learn more about the statewide system we are a part of.
- Canvas (by Instructure) - IvyLearn was developed using this system. The site includes several "guides", videos, and knowledge bases organized by category to help you maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of your courses.
- Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM) - Ivy Tech Community College standards and policies are collected within ASOM. Standard 7 in the manual outlines the requirements for teaching with Ivy Tech (07.05.01 and 07.05.02).
- Course Start Checklist - Request a new DEV course shell
- Da117 Digital Accessibility Resources and Training - Initiative to meet the standards and policies of the ADA. Example resources and tools include:
- 2025 Calendar
- FAQ Sheet
- UDOIT Accessibility Tool (integrated within IvyLearn) - Scans your content and course shell to align with ADA.
- Academic Video Online - Library resource that includes ADA compliant videos (ex. accurate closed captioning). If using YouTube, consider high quality and reliable channels such as: Khan Academy, Big Think, Crash Course, and TEDEd.
- Merge/Cross-List Courses - Fill out the following form and include it in your submitted ticket. It is highly recommended that the request take place before the classes start and that courses with different learning modalities are not combined (ex. Online vs. In-Person).
