Warsaw Service Area Student Assistance Fund Guidelines

What is the Warsaw Service Area Student Assistance Fund?

The IvyCares Emergency Assistance Fund assists students at Ivy Tech Community College through short-term financial emergencies so they can be in class, be prepared, and persist in their academic coursework.

The following criteria will be considered when process a request for assistance:

  • Enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours in the current semester. 
  • Have at least a 2.0 GPA and actively attending classes.  
  • Have exhausted all other avenues for payment/assistance.
  • Have not received the maximum of two (2) awards from the fund during enrollment.


What types of expenses are eligible?

  • Tuition and fees (after other aid or scholarships have been awarded)
  • Books and other essential expenses (i.e. steel toe shoes, uniform, etc.) needed to be prepared for class
  • Household bills (i.e. utilities, internet)
  • Assistance with replacement of essential personal belongings due to emergency or natural disaster
  • Transportation costs associated with being in class
  • All other emergency situations that would directly affect finishing the program degree (i.e. child care, groceries, auto/home repair)
  • Past due bills
  • Medication

What types of expenses are NOT eligible?

  • Costs of entertainment or recreational activities

How do I apply for the Student Assistance Fund aid?

  1. Complete the Application for the IvyCares Emergency Assistance Fund.
  2. Submit the application either physically or digitally.
  3. If additional documentation is needed, you will be notified. Please allow 7-10 business days to process an application and award.
  4. Awards will are generally between $50 and $500 and applicants may be required to meet with a staff member to discuss their application.

Please note the following:

  • Only students who have exhausted all other avenues for payment/assistance will be accepted. You may be asked to meet with the Coordinator for Student Success before funds are awarded.
  • If denied, students will receive referrals to relevant community organizations.
