Las Posadas - Meaning, Traditions, & Facts

Las Posadas "The Lodgings" is celebrated throughout Spanish speaking countries and communities in the United States.  It commemorates Mary and Joseph's nine day journey for finding lodgings in Bethlehem.  Every night for nine days a procession is lead by children dressed as an angel, Mary, and Joseph stopping at homes that have been prechosen to represent the posadas.

The days procession ends in festivities of singing, dancing, fireworks, and food.
